TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) ensured the security of the personnel’s data in their servers and application after a Brazilian hacker admitted to hacking them.

"The bottom line is that for data servers, Polri applications, and security systems, everything is safe," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed in Jakarta, Monday, November 22, 2021.

Dedi said that the Directorate of Cyber Crimes (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police had conducted an in-depth investigation regarding the burglary of the police data. Dedi did not explain further regarding the validity of the data allegedly belonging to members of the National Police which were spread by hackers on social media.

A Brazilian hacker named son1x claimed to have succeeded in breaking into the personal data of Polices and their closest family members. The Twitter account @son1x666 wrote a tweet, "Polri-Indonesian National Police Hacked, 28k logins and personal information leaked".

In the upload, the account owner puts three links that contain copies of the personal data of members of the Police that have been hacked. If the link is clicked, the user will be redirected to a website that is suspected to be managed by hackers, which presents data such as name, rank, place, and date of birth, work unit, marital status to the main register number and several other personal data.

The hacker carried out the action on the grounds that he did not support the government of Indonesia's way of treating its people. The hacker admitted that the action was carried out after many people contacted him talking about people's lives in Indonesia.

According to a cybersecurity expert from CISSReC, Pratama Persadha, it was not the first time the police computer system was hacked. Initially, the Police's website had been hacked for an online gambling site. The police data had also been stolen.

He added that the police database is currently sold freely on the Internet forum, RaidForum, by perpetrators named 'Stars12n'. The platform also provides free-downloaded-sample data.
