The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry, in collaboration with a state-owned enterprise and a start-up, is conducting a 3D Concrete Printing trial.

TheIndonesia.id - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry is conducting a trial of a three-dimensional (3D) Concrete Printing technology developed by Indonesian youngsters to optimize the implementation of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the infrastructure sector.

"The innovation is the collaboration among PUPR Ministry, a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), and an Indonesian youngsters’ start-up company," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said in a written statement issued here on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

The innovation is in accordance with the Making Indonesia 4.0 Roadmap, which was launched by President Joko Widodo on April 4, 2018, as a guide for developing various important sectors, including construction and infrastructure, he added.

3D Concrete Printing uses the additive manufacturing method to print 3D objects from mortar materials, he explained.
The printing process is carried out layer by layer until the whole building is finished, Hadimuljono said.

The technology will make the construction process more effective and efficient, he said adding, thus affordable housing can be created for all people.

3D Concrete Printing can reduce material waste, save cost and time, improve construction quality, as well as accommodate complex building designs, he noted.

Thus, the technology can support the construction of public education infrastructures, such as schools and madrasas, as well as establish 3D printed houses, he informed.

The trial is being carried out by the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the ministry in collaboration with state-owned construction company PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk and a start-up called Autoconz, he said.

Director general of human settlements at the ministry, Diana Kusumastuti, said that the technology will be very helpful in building more quickly, more accurately, and more precisely.

"It is hoped that the new technology will continue to be developed for school construction, under the prototype set by the ministry," she added.
