PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia introduced its newest electric car at the Hybrid Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2022, namely the Ioniq 5

TheIndonesia.id - PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia introduced its newest electric car at the Hybrid Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2022, namely the Ioniq 5 on Thursday. This car is made at its new factory in Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia.

President Director of Hyundai Motor Indonesia SungJong Ha stated that he is very happy because today Hyundai presents a new pride as part of the transformation of the Indonesian automotive industry. "Through Ioniq 5, Hyundai has proven its commitment to building future mobility, so that Indonesia can become one of the most important players in the world," said SungJong Ha at JIEXPO, Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

"Ioniq 5 has all the advantages that have been desired by the Indonesian people, such as a timeless design, the latest technology, to maximum comfort. This product will be the most appropriate electric car and can be the pride of Indonesia," he added.

This electric vehicle product is a breakthrough and a historic step in the Indonesian automotive industry because it is the first pure electric car (Battery Electric Vehicle / BEV) to be mass-produced in Indonesia, to be precise at the Hyundai factory in Cikarang, West Java.

This electric car comes with a futuristic design equipped with environmentally friendly materials and is the first electric car built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a platform with many advantages designed by the Hyundai Motor Group specifically for this BEV vehicles model.

"This electric car carries elements that elevate the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia to a higher level, one of which is through the presence of E-GMP which makes customers get the best comfort and technology support that makes their adventures more quality and meaningful," he said.

Hyundai equips this electric vehicle with a regenerative braking system, a system that will charge the car's battery by utilizing the kinetic energy generated when the car is decelerating. The use of this regenerative braking system allows this electric vehicle to stop completely using two special features, namely i-Pedal and paddle shifters.

For your information, i-Pedal is a feature that provides vehicle speed control which includes acceleration, deceleration, and stopping the vehicle simply by modulating the acceleration pedal and without having to use the paddle shifter manually. On the other hand, the Paddle Shifter allows the driver to adjust the level of regenerative braking when decelerating with a choice from level 0 to level 3, where the higher the regenerative braking number, the stronger the speed reduction.

Ioniq 5 is claimed by Hyundai Indonesia can cover a distance of up to 384 kilometers when the car battery is fully charged. Ioniq 5 Long Range type also has an even more impressive mileage capability, can be driven as far as 481 KM and the Signature Long Range type can cover a distance of 451 KM (based on WLTP).

For performance, the Ioniq 5 is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, while the Prime Long Range and Signature Long Range types can make the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.4. second.
