TheIndonesia.id - The Republic of Indonesia has expanded the application scope of a visit visa on arrival or a special tourist visa on arrival (VoA) for tourists from 43 countries. But Indonesia only opens 19 entrances for VoA.

"In addition, the government has also expanded the policy of granting visa-free visits to nine ASEAN countries," said Director of Immigration Traffic at the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Amran Aris, in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

The policy is regulated in the Circular Letter of the Director-General of Immigration Number IMI-0549.GR.01.01 dated April 5, 2022, regarding the ease of immigration to support sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new policy came into effect on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Thus, the Circular Letter of Director-General of Immigration Number IMI-0532.GR.01.01 of 2022 concerning visit visas on special arrivals for tourism to support sustainable tourism in Bali during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Circular Letter of Director General of Immigration Number IMI-0533.GR .01.01 2022 is no longer valid or revoked.

"Foreigners, as referred to in the circular letter, can enter Indonesia only through 19 designated immigration checkpoints," he said.

There are seven airports, eight ports, and four cross-border posts designated as entry points for VoA subjects and visa-free visits. Foreign tourists cannot enter through other immigration checkpoints if they want to use these facilities.

"However, foreign tourists are allowed to exit through any immigration checkpoint," he said.

To get a visa-free visit or VoA, every foreigner must show a valid nationality passport and it is still valid for at least 6 months. Furthermore, return tickets or onward tickets, proof of payment, and proof of insurance ownership are following the provisions of the COVID-19 Task Force.

Referring to Government Regulation Number 28 of 2019, the VoA rate is IDR 500,000. The renewal fee is also subject to the same rate.

"A residence permit originating from VoA can be extended once for a period of 30 days, and carried out at the immigration office according to the area where the foreigner lives while in Indonesia," said Amran.
