TheIndonesia.id - West Nusa Tenggara is bracing itself to host another international sporting event this year. After an eventful MotoGP race in Mandalika last month, the province is set to be the location of a Motorcross Grand Prix (MXGP) race in June.

The race is planned to take place in Samota area in Sumbawa island, and local officials are already preparing to use the event as an opportunity to promote Sumbawa as a top holiday destination for international tourists.

“We must be able to create a good impression to [MXGP riders and officials], so we will eventually hear good news from the riders. We can read their social media posts about beautiful and incredible Sumbawa,” West Nusa Tenggara governor Zulkieflimansyah said on Tuesday, April 26, as reported by Antara.

And to optimize the marketing opportunity, the province will improve itself prior to the race – including through infrastructural development.

“Without MXGP, Samota bridge would’ve probably never been redecorated, our airport would’ve probably never been enhanced, the facility at our port would’ve probably never been improved,” the governor said.

During a technical meeting to discuss the MXGP race, he asked every element to collaborate to make the event a successful one.

The race, which is officially named MXGP of Indonesia Samota Sumbawa 2022, will be held on June 24-26.

And Samota Adventure Land has been proposed to be the name of the circuit.

The circuit is built on an 18-hectare land, and the length is 1,800 m. It has been assigned to become the location for free practice, qualification, MX2, and MXGP.
