TheIndonesia.id - Organizer said the construction of Formula E circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta, continues and will now focus on its supporting facilities after track is completed and has been announced as ready to use.

The organizing committee revealed that the construction of the circuit’s supporting facilities started in mid-April and is targeted to finish in May.

“FEO [Formula E Operations] will soon work on grandstand, paddock, wall barrier, fence, and components for infrastructures outside the race track from mid-April to May,” vice president communication of Jakarta Formula E’s organizing committee Iman Sjafei said on Tuesday, April 26, as reported by Antara.

He also revealed that developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has completed the asphalt paving process for the track, which consists of Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course (ACBC) and Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (ACWC) layers.

On Monday, President Joko Widodo and Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan inspected the development of the circuit construction project and said the race track is ready for the event. He also expected the construction to be completed timely as organizer is now racing against time.

“The paddock and the grandstand area need to be finished immediately. There is still time after Idul Fitri, and we hope that in early June we will be able to see the project completed,” he said in a statement.

Jakarta Formula E race is scheduled to take place on June 4.

The circuit has a track length of 2.4 kilometers and a width of 12 kilometers, and it has a slope in some corners that allow racers to have a higher speed.
