TheIndonesia.id - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the government targets to create 4.4 million new jobs in creative economy sector by 2024 by encouraging the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Uno said his Ministry will focus on the development of MSMEs to increase employment in creative economy and create more than four million jobs in the industry.

“In 2022, our target is 1.1 million new jobs, we’ll continue to push for 4.4 million jobs by 2024 through the empowerment of MSMEs,” Uno said on Sunday, July 17, as reported by Antara.

While saying that synergy between central and local governments is key to realize the vision, the Minister also acknowledged that the current global food and energy crises can pose a threat to the Ministry’s efforts.

“However, we must remain alerted because the threats of food and energy crises are right before our eyes, and we must work together to ensure we create solutions based on the needs of the public,” Uno said.

While attending Apresiasi Kreasi Indonesia, an event that focuses on the development of creative economy and industry players, in Tangerang on Sunday, Uno said local MSMEs in food and beverage subsector have many potentials – and can become the leading player at international level.

“I just saw that all 27 [MSMEs] offer high quality products, and they’ve become more digitalized and created variants that the public is looking for,” Uno explained.
