Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan after being summoned by Corruption Eradication Commission

TheIndonesia.id - Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, said that his summons by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday was an attempt to dispel prejudice and suspicion against Formula E.

"This is to eliminate inappropriate prejudices and suspicions. So that in the future the central and regional leaders will be able and have a place to carry out various advances that bring change in Indonesia," Baswedan said in his statement after being questioned by the KPK in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Baswedan further stated that he came to the anti-corruption agency to provide information regarding the implementation of Formula E Jakarta, as well as to discuss progress and ideas about the electric car racing event so that suspicions disappeared into collaboration. "This is an effort to incorporate progress and ideas about formula E, so that the KPK can place it in the legal system and be responsible for a policy," said the former Minister of Education.

Baswedan also said that from the start, Formula E was a form of progress in the form of ideas and activities, and was progress that had to be integrated into the legal, policy and political system in Indonesia. "An idea of progress that must be incorporated with the legal system, policy and even politics in Indonesia. The more progress we blend, the more our civilizational narrative will continue to move in the right direction," said the holder of a doctorate from Northern Illinois University.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned the Jakarta governor regarding Formula E this Wednesday and Baswedan complied with the call. The KPK explained the reason for summoning Anies Baswedan regarding the investigation of the Formula E case because the investigative team needed Anies' information about the electric car racing event.

"In the investigation process, the KPK can certainly invite various parties to be confirmed and clarified by the KPK investigation team, so that anyone, if a statement is needed, will certainly be summoned," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri.
