TheIndonesia.co - Lagoi tourism area in Bintan, Riau Islands, will continue to open during Christmas and New Year’s holidays amid stricter activity restrictions imposed by the government during the period.
Management of the famous destination said the office has made necessary preparation to ensure strict implementation of health protocols for a safe holiday experience for visitors. Representative of PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala said it’s ready to follow the safety and health guidelines provided by the government as it imposes national Level 3 restrictions, or locally known as PPKM, during the year-end period.
“We are following every instruction from the government, whether it’s in the form of circular letters or ministerial instructions,” head of safety and environment at the company Ray Tobing said on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Every tourist is required to maintain physical distance, use a mask, get their body temperature checked, go through COVID-19 testing, and be isolated if needed.

Tobing added that the management is working with Raja Ahmad Tabib Hospital in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands to provide necessary medical care.
In bracing the coming year-end holidays, management puts more focus on both control access and COVID-19 testing. Tourists must meet several criteria before visiting the spot, including having received the vaccine, partially or fully.
“For those who haven’t been vaccinated, they can enter the area by showing a COVID-19 test result, at least the GeNose test,” the spokesperson said, adding that a center for GeNose test is available in Simpang Lagoi terminal for coming tourists to access.
It’s previously reported that the government is planning to open more access for tourism in Riau Islands by establishing international flight routes via Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam. Ministry Transportation is also said to have been planning to open international ports in Batam and Bintan.
“The Ministry of Transportation will open international flights in Batam and three international ports in Batam and Bintan,” Head of Riau Islands’ Tourism Office Buralimar revealed in October.
The effort, he added, is in line with the province’s preparation to welcome foreign travelers when tourism runs normally in the coming future.
