TheIndonesia.id - Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Lieutenant General Suharyanto inspected three quarantine hotels in Jakarta to review their readiness for accommodating foreign travelers.

"We hope that the hotel facility will be ready as a quarantine place for foreign travelers," Suharyanto remarked in a written statement received by Antara on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Suharyanto, who is also the head of the National COVID-19 Handling Task Force, inspected three hotels around 8 p.m. local time on January 4, 2022: the Arya Duta and Grand Mercure Hotel in Central Jakarta, and Holiday Inn Matraman in East Jakarta.

During the inspection, he reviewed the hotels' readiness and registration process for accepting foreign travelers and as well as the supporting facilities in the quarantine area. He also thanked officers for their service at the hotels.

Earlier, at the end of 2021, Suharyanto had reviewed the readiness of quarantine facilities in Jakarta to anticipate the need for additional quarantine sites for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) or foreign travelers. The quarantine facilities included the Nagrak Flats in North Jakarta, Daan Mogot Flats in West Jakarta, and the Jakarta Education Quality Institute in South Jakarta.

According to BNPB data, as of 6 p.m. local time on January 4, 2022, the number of foreign travelers quarantined at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSD) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, RSDC Wisma Atlet Pademangan, Pasar Rumput Flats, and Nagrak Flats totaled 14,217. The total percentage of occupied beds in the four facilities stood at 74.92 percent.

Earlier, the COVID-19 Task Force had prepared quarantine facilities for overseas travelers arriving in Indonesia through nine entry points. The nine entry points include Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, and Sam Ratulangi Airport in North Sulawesi.

The entry points for travelers arriving through the sea route are Batam Port and Tanjung Pinang in Riau Islands and Nunukan in North Kalimantan.

 The entry points of the cross border post (PLBN) include the Aruk border post in West Kalimantan, Entikong in West Kalimantan, and Motaain in East Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
