TheIndonesia.id - The Bern police has confirmed that the body found in Engehalde dam in the city of Bern, Switzerland, was the son West Java governor that first went missing on May 29 while swimming in Aare River.

As reported by Suara.com, the body was found on the early day of Wednesday, June 8.

“On Wednesday morning, a lifeless man was rescued from the Aare at the Engehalde dam in Bern. The deceased is the Indonesian citizen who had an accident in the Aare on May 26, 2022,” the announcement from Bern police read.

The body was reportedly found shortly before 6.50 a.m. local time upon report that a “lifeless man was lying in the water at the Engehalde weir in Bern”.

“Specialists from the maritime police of the Bern cantonal police were able to locate a body in the overflow basin of the weir and then salvage it. It could only be determined that the man was dead,” the statement continued.

“The forensic investigations carried out in the meantime revealed that the deceased was the Indonesian national who had been missing in the Aare since Thursday, May 26, 2022.”

Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz, the son of West Java governor Ridwan Kamil, went missing on May 26 in Aare River, and since then, search effort was continuously carried out.

After returning to Indonesia on June 4, Kamil had re-departed to Switzerland on Thursday, and the governor had reportedly submitted a leave request until June 19 to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The West Java provincial government confirmed that during Kamil’s absence, deputy governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum will temporarily assume his duties.
