Regarding the location of detention, it would be determined after the examination took place. He said that the Attorney General's Office would cooperate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), considering that Surya Darmadi was undergoing a legal proceeding at the KPK too.

"We will cooperate with the KPK because there are cases handled by the KPK," said Burhanuddin.

Surya Darmadi arrived at the Attorney General's Office at 13:56 WIB, last Monday, to fulfill the AGO's summons. Juniver Girsang as Surya Darmadi's attorney emphasized that it is not true if his client was declared to have fled because it was proven that Surya Darmadi had come to the Attorney General's Office.

“There is information stating that he has been running away all this time, that is not true. This presence proves that our clients are very cooperative,” said Girsang.

Surya Darmadi came from Taipei, China, and arrived in Indonesia at around 13.00 WIB. Furthermore, Darmadi went to the Attorney General's Office to undergo an examination.

Surya Darmadi is the owner of the Duta Palma Group who was named a suspect in the corruption case of oil palm land tenure because it cost the state Rp78 trillion. In addition, Surya Darmadi has been named by the KPK as a suspect for giving bribes in the alleged bribery case for filing a revision of the forest function change in Riau Province to the Ministry of Forestry in 2014.

The KPK has included Surya Darmadi on the wanted list (DPO) status since 2019. The Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, Sanitiar Burhanuddin, said that his agency would cooperate with the KPK regarding the handling of the alleged corruption case in the control of palm oil land, Surya Darmadi, which cost the state Rp78 trillion.

"We will cooperate with the KPK because there are also cases handled by the KPK," said Burhanuddin.

The statement regarding cooperation with the KPK was reiterated by the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office, Febrie Adriansyah. "We have coordinated because it has also been processed there, so later an inspection will be carried out here for Surya Darmadi," said Adriansyah in Jakarta, Monday night.

The Attorney General's Office has scheduled a follow-up examination of Surya Darmadi next Thursday, August 18. "(Further investigation) Thursday, 10:00 Western Indonesia Time," said the Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday.

When he arrived at the Attorney General's Office last Monday afternoon, Surya Darmadi immediately underwent a three-hour examination. The examination was stopped due to his unwell condition after a long trip from Taiwan. "The person concerned is still not fit, because of the long journey," said Sumedana.
