TheIndonesia.co - Australia provides 1 million doses of oral and nail disease (FMD) vaccine for Indonesia. The vaccine will be distributed by the Indonesian government to the areas most in need.
"We have managed to match the dose according to the type of FMD found in Indonesia. This dose will be very effective in protecting Indonesian livestock,” said Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry as well as Minister of Emergency Management Murray Watt in a written statement from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Friday, August 26, 2022.
The vaccine delivery to Indonesia, according to Watt, is part of a “three-pronged approach” to keep Australia free of FMD by assisting neighboring countries in dealing with outbreaks, strengthening biosecurity borders, and increasing preparedness at home.
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said that in the next few months, Australia would again supply AUD 4.4 million worth of FMD vaccine as part of a recent Aus$10 million (Rp103.32 billion) biosecurity package. announced for Indonesia. "The successful delivery of this vaccine demonstrates Australia's commitment to supporting Indonesia's response to the outbreak and emphasizes the close cooperative relationship between our two countries," Wong said.
