TheIndonesia.id - Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is sending group of medical professionals to Pakistan to help victims in flood-affected areas caused by devastating monsoon rains since June.

The team of 29 health workers consists of 10 military personnel, six individuals from the police, two professionals from Andalas University, six personnel from Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC), and five medical experts from the Ministry of Health.

“Today, I send the medical team and humanitarian aid to Pakistan, as a follow-up to President Joko Widodo’s aid for Pakistan on September 27, in which two planes carrying logistics for the victims were sent to Pakistan,” chief of BNPB Lieut. Gen. Suharyanto said on Thursday, October 6, as reported by Antara.

After the one million dollar package was sent last month, the President reportedly ordered a medical team to also be sent to Pakistan to help survivors in the South Asian country.

“The team will be providing their service for a month in Karachi, which is one of the worst-hit regions,” Suharyanto explained.

According to the plan, the team will depart for Pakistan from Halim Perdanakusuma airport in Jakarta tomorrow.
