TheIndonesia.id - To enliven World Environment Day, Yoursay, a Content Creator Platform of PT Arkadia Digital Media Tbk., successfully launched the "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign.

The "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign took place from May 15th to June 9th, 2023. The series of activities included online campaigns with volunteers, environment-related talk shows, service programs at the 'Nature' School, as well as sharing sessions and challenges to recycle waste into crafts.

Social Media Call for Less Waste Earth Smile

The "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign, which started in mid-May, was participated by volunteers from various backgrounds. Throughout the campaign period, volunteers were challenged to create content on Instagram, either in the form of posters (graphic designs) or video reels.

The content creation was divided into three stages, each with different themes, including the reality of the current waste problem, contributions to overcoming waste issues, and the "5-day plastic-free challenge."

The Less Waste Earth Smile campaign was well received by one of the volunteers, Azzahra, who actively created content for the "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign. According to her, this campaign has a positive impact on creating a better environment.

"Participating in Yoursay's campaign on reducing plastic waste and living a zero-waste lifestyle gives the impression that individuals have an important role in addressing environmental issues. Yoursay's campaign message can motivate individuals to adopt attitudes and behaviors that support a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment," expressed Azzahra.

Until the official closure of the "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign, a total of 35 video contents and 87 posters were collected from 61 volunteers. The collected content was evaluated by the Yoursay Team each week to determine the best volunteers.

Several outstanding volunteers were selected based on the content they created, whether in the form of videos or posters. The best volunteers and content for "The Power of WE" campaign were as follows:

Week 1 Best Volunteer: Hanifah Nur Azizah (Reels) and Defa Siti Fauziah (Poster)

'Nature' School in Wisata Kali Opak Village for 7 Months

Apart from online activities, Yoursay also organized offline-based activities. Yoursay collaborated with the Alam School UGM to carry out service activities in Wisata Kali Opak Village for 7 months.

This activity involved 28 participants, mostly from elementary schools. The participants enthusiastically took part in learning and playing activities, which began with a drama and singing introduction.

In the "Sunday Fun Day" event, Yoursay and Alam School UGM presented engaging learning materials about waste and the environment. Topics such as waste and the 3R method (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) were conveyed through a game of snakes and ladders.

Moreover, the participants were also invited to play puzzles containing messages about not littering and loving the environment.

Jeper, an International Relations student from UGM and a facilitator in the Alam School program, expressed his joy in participating directly in this service activity.

"I feel really happy because here we can experience new stories, new experiences, and also meet the children. Making these children happy is also a joy for ourselves," said Jeper.

Sharing Sessions and Crafts from Waste Challenges

Excitement was also present in the event titled "Yoursay Move and Get Better," held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Yogyatorium, Yogyakarta. On this occasion, Yoursay organized a sharing session and a challenge to create crafts from waste, called "Yoursay Move and Get Better."

"Yoursay Move and Get Better" was attended by 17 participants, some of whom were from the Yoursay Jogja Community, 'Nature' School UGM, and Green Generation DIY.

The sharing session was led by Vert Terre, a bulk store business that implements environmentally friendly principles. Co-owners of Vert Terre, Tiffani Rizky and Ratri Sekar Wening, came to discuss the lifestyle of less waste and simple steps that can be taken.

"It depends on our habits. We can do simple things at home, like reducing waste on a daily basis. For example, shopping without using plastic bags but bringing our own shopping bags," said Ratri.

After the sharing session, the participants took part in the challenge to create crafts from waste materials such as plastic, paper, cardboard, and others. The crafts created varied, including pencil holders, miniature houses, and more. This challenge was the implementation of the waste recycling principle.

One of the participants, Pusaka, found the "Yoursay Move and Get Better" event exciting. Additionally, they gained a lot of new knowledge and information from this event.

"The material was beneficial, it added to my knowledge. It turns out there are many ways to reduce waste, one of them being refilling. The event was enjoyable, and we made creations from waste brought from home together, so we became acquainted with new friends," said Pusaka.

Yoursay Talks with Environmental Activists

To accommodate environmental enthusiasts who could not attend in person, Yoursay also organized online activities in the form of talk shows, called Yoursay Talks. Two successful talk shows were held through the Live Instagram feature.

The first talk show was titled "Yoursay Talk: Small Step To Big Change!" The event, which took place on May 24, 2023, featured a young Indonesian environmental activist who has gained international recognition, Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani.

In this talk show, Nina discussed her background and her involvement as an environmental activist. Despite her young age, Nina has actively participated in various positive activities for nature.

Furthermore, Nina also addressed the dangers of plastic waste that are damaging the environment and the efforts young people can make to help preserve nature. With great enthusiasm, she encouraged participants to take part in efforts to protect the environment.

"We all have the right to live in a healthy environment. We are the heirs of this Earth. We will lead and live in Indonesia in the future. Don't let our Earth die. We must dare to speak up and change for our healthy future, free from plastic pollution," emphasized Nina.

Next, the second Yoursay Talk took place on Monday, June 5, 2024. This time, Nurie Lubis from the Belajarzerowaste_id community shared her experiences and knowledge about the environment.

Nurie Lubis discussed zero waste or the movement to minimize waste production for the sake of the environment. She explained that the key to participating in this movement is to have the intention.

After having the intention, the next step is prevention. Actions can include using bags instead of plastic, using cloth wipes instead of tissue, and reducing the use of food delivery services.

Following that, the next stage is sorting and separating the waste that can be recycled from those that cannot. Then comes the processing stage. Items such as bottles or cans can be transformed into flower pots, while food waste can be used as animal feed or compost.

That's the exciting series of events in the Yoursay "Less Waste Earth Smile" campaign, which was carried out as a simple step in caring for the environment. Let's all participate in taking care of nature!
