TheIndonesia.id - The Central Sulawesi Police managed to uncover the smuggling of 29 kilograms of methamphetamine from neighboring Malaysia. This was revealed by Central Sulawesi Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Rudy Sufahriadi at a press conference at the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, Palu City, Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

Rudy, as reported by Antara, explained that this disclosure began when personnel from Directorate of Narcotics and Drug Investigation of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police received information on methamphetamine smuggling activities from Malaysia into the Central Sulawesi region by sea on November 3, 2021.

After investigating for a month, on December 25, 2021, personnel from the Narcotics and Drugs Directorate of the Central Sulawesi Police, assisted by the Customs of Palu, arrested a suspect with the initial D in Dondasa, Siboang Village, Sojol District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi.

Suspect D admitted to storing the drugs at his uncle's house in Balukang Village, Sojol District, Donggala Regency. At the house, officers managed to find evidence of 29 packages of methamphetamine.

"It didn't stop there, our personnel also carried out development and succeeded in securing four people suspected of being involved and taken to the Central Sulawesi Police for further investigation," said Rudy.

Head of Public Relations of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police Grand Commissioner Police Didik Supranoto added that in addition to 29 packages of methamphetamine weighing 29 kilograms, officers from the Narcotics Directorate also confiscated evidence such as a ship, five mobile phones, one homemade firearm, and three rounds of ammunition.

Other suspects who were arrested are D (39), a resident of Siboang, Sojol District; R (43) a resident of Pesik Village, North Sojol District; S (40) resident of Tolitoli Regency; A (35) resident of Sandaran, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan; and H (36) from Batu 13 Apas, State of Sabah Malaysia.

For their actions, they were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. "The threat is imprisonment for a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years or life or the death penalty and a fine of at least Rp. 1 billion and a maximum of Rp. 10 billion," said Didik.
