TheIndonesia.id - The city of Yogyakarta will soon build the National Industrial Design Center (PDIN) in 2022 on the former Terban Terminal area with funding from the central government through a special allocation fund.

"The plan is that construction will start in March and finish in November 2022. Hopefully, this design center can be operational starting in 2023," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Cooperative Industry and Small & Medium Enterprises Office Tri Karyadi Riyanto in Yogyakarta, Thursday, December 30, 2021.

The total special allocation fund allocated to start the construction reached Rp50 billion, consisting of funds for physical work needs of around Rp41.8 billion. While the rest is used to meet non-physical needs such as training, mentoring, facilitation, promotion, and other supporting activities.

According to Tri, the PDIN in the city of Yogyakarta is different from the existing design centers in several other cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bandung, and Denpasar. "Design centers located in other cities are managed in a non-profit manner, meanwhile in Yogyakarta City, they are profit-oriented," said Tri, who also serves as PDIN Development Commitment Making Officer.

Therefore, he continued, 70 percent of the management of the design center in Yogyakarta will be professionals, while the rest will be filled by civil servants.

He ensured that the detail engineering design (DED) for the construction of PDIN had been completed, although several revisions had to be made, including revising the existence of the basement.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission B of the Yogyakarta City Parliament Susanto Dwi Antoro carried out a surprise inspection of the development location. He hopes that PDIN would have good management so it would have an impact on industrial development, especially the creative industry in the city of Yogyakarta.

"Therefore, a comprehensive study is needed regarding how to manage this PDIN so that the facilities will not be useless," he said.

He also hopes that the PDIN building, which will be built with four floors, will pay attention to environmental conditions including traffic conditions. "There are concerns about the need for parking spaces because the basement that was originally used for parking has been removed from the DED. Of course, better arrangements are needed," he said.

He hopes that the construction of PDIN on an area of 2,800 square meters can proceed according to plan and can be operationalized on time for the development of the national industry.
