TheIndonesia.id - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo said that 60,000 tickets for the MotoGP event to be held at the Mandalika circuit had run out. Hotel accommodation is now an issue.

"We also know that our target of 60,000 tickets has been sold, thank God. I hope this will become a new brand for our country," said President Joko Widodo during a press conference in front of the Merdeka Palace when casting MotoGP racers, Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

This event, said the President, indicates that Indonesia is on par with other countries that have held MotoGP. In addition, Indonesia also has a Mandalika circuit whose quality has been recognized internationally.

Regarding the benefits that will be received by the state from tourism at the MotoGP event, Jokowi is not sure how much will be received. "If the event is over, how many people will enter the audience, then it will be counted. (But we should wait) after the event is over, on Sunday," he said.

"But what is clear from the hotel accommodation side is that we still need a lot (of hotel rooms) in Mandalika," he said.

Previously, the MotoGP racers released by Jokowi departed from the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta along Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, continued to Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat passing in front of the RRI building leading to the Kempinski Hotel, in the Hotel Indonesia roundabout area, on Wednesday.

Based on Antara's observation, as many as 20 racers used motorcycles from various manufacturers such as Honda, KTM, Ducati, Aprilia, Yamaha, Suzuki, and several others. The departure of the Moto GP racers was also accompanied by a tight escort of police officers and TNI personnel.

Not to forget, hundreds of motorcycle riders from various communities also participated in the convoy. While riding sports motorbikes, the racers also greeted fans and media crew along the way.
