A collision involving the Turangga Surabaya-Bandung Train and a Bandung local commuter line train took place in an area between the Haurpugur Station and Cicalengka Station in Cicalengka Sub-district at 6:03 a.m. local time.

Earlier, state-owned railway company PT KAI revealed that it would collaborate with KNKT to immediately figure out the cause of the accident.

"KAI will conduct a joint investigation with KNKT to find out the reason behind the train collision," KAI's Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus, stated.

He noted that the company had taken responsive measures following the accident, including evacuating derailed train cars and conducting repair on damaged rails.

"We will reroute trains that were scheduled to pass by the Haurpugur-Cicalengka route and accommodate (passengers) with alternative means of transport," Martinus said.
