TheIndonesia.id - Every woman will experience menopause. Menopause occurs when a woman stops having periods, most often between the ages of 45 and 55.

A woman is diagnosed with menopause when she no longer experienced a period cycle for 12 months at the age of 45 and 55 years. Here are the details of menopause quoting WebMD.

What is menopause?

Menopause is the end of a woman's period cycle. This term can describe any change that a woman experiences before or after the cessation of the period, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years.

Menopause is a regular part of aging that occurs after the age of 40. However, some women can experience early menopause. It could be the result of surgery, ovary removal, or chemotherapy.

Signs of Menopause

When approaching menopause, most women will experience hot flashes, a sudden warm feeling that spreads throughout the upper body, often with a flushed face and sweating. Here are the signs:

  • Uneven or missed period
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Sore breasts
  • Urinate more often
  • Hard to sleep
  • Emotional changes
  • Dry skin, eyes, or mouth

After experiencing the signs mentioned above, menopausal women will then experience several other signs as below.

  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Crankiness
  • Heart pounding
  • Headache
  • Aches and pains of joints and muscles
  • Weight gain
  • Hair loss
  • Changes in libido (sex drive)

Menopausal Phase

Every woman will experience a natural menopause phase. The phases of natural menopause are as follows:

Perimenopause, this phase usually begins a few years before menopause, when your ovaries slowly make less estrogen. Perimenopause lasts until menopause, the point at which your ovaries stop releasing eggs

Menopause, this phase is the cessation of menstruation for a year since you have menstruated. It happens because the ovaries have stopped releasing eggs and making most of their estrogen.

The Postmenopausal, this phase is the years after menopause. Menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes usually subside but the health risks associated with the loss of estrogen increase with age.
