TheIndonesia.id - East Java’s capital Surabaya now has a coastal tourist attraction in Romokalisari that will let visitors ride jet ski and horse, while also enjoying the amazing view. The place will open to public in 2022.

The regional government has been developing the concept of costal tourism in the area, and Surabaya mayor Eri Cahyadi said Romokalisari is now ready to welcome tourists. The view, he said, is one of the selling points of the place.

“The place gets especially more picturesque in the evening and fits as a culinary center,” Cahyadi said.

From the development and tourism, people who live within the coastal area are expected to be able to make more money as fishermen and their families can now work in various tourism spots and facilities that has been established.

“We target every family to have Rp7 million income. With Romokalisari coastal tourism, income will increase because people may sell foods, drinks, and other goods [or services] that will support the industry,” the mayor said.

On Monday, December 20, Cahyadi gave four boats to local fishermen which may be used for their fishing activities or for boat tour to future visitors.

In the future, Cahyadi said his office will work and collaborate with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and universities in further developing the economy and labor-intensive opportunities.

Romokalisari will not be the last coastal tourism attraction developed by Surabaya government as it’s currently developing similar concept in Sontoh Laut. And next year, the two places will be promoted as Surabaya’s leading tourist destinations.
